What is a Mercedes?

Mercedes Repair in your future? Mercedes is a German automotive manufacturing company. This company was founded in the 1920s. They began to produce cars in Stuttgart, Germany. Today, Mercedes produces cars in the US, Austria, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico. Mercedes are one of the most common luxury car brands out there!

Did you know, that Mercedes produces 1.9 Million cars every year? The most popular Mercedes model is the GLC followed by the S Class. Last year alone, Mercedes sold 320,000 GLCs and 60,000 S-Class vehicles.
Mercedes was incorporated on June 28, 1926. It was founded by Karl Benz. Mercedes owns many car brands. Some of them are Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, Western Star, Smart, Freightliner, Bharat Benz, Setra, and Thomas Built.

One cool fact about Mercedes is that they were the first to ever produce a car! In 1886 Karl Benz released the first-ever car! Mercedes is almost one hundred years old.

The first car made by Mercedes was actually the first car ever! It was called the Motorwagen. It was invented by Karl Benz in 1886. The Motorwagen’s top speed was 10 miles per hour. There were only 25 Motorwagens made. Today, there is still a Motorwagen. It was restored to its original condition, in 2008, and it lives in the Mercedes Benz Museum.

Karl Benz was born on November 25, 1844.  In his lifetime, he invented the car company known as Mercedes Benz. He also invented the Motorwagen in 1826, the first car ever. Karl Benz lived in Vienna. He had 5 children. His kids were Ellen Benz, Richard Benz, Thide Benz, Eugen Benz, and Cara Benz. His wife was Bertha Benz. Karl Benz went to school at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

The first G Wagon was made in 1979. The G in G wagon stands for Gelande. Its top speed is 130 miles per hour. G wagons fall under the G class vehicles. The 2022 G Wagon was sold for $130,900 dollars. SL class Mercedes is a part of their luxurious automotive selection. The first one was made in 1972. The first “drop-top” SL class vehicle that Mercedes produced was in 1996.

How long are Mercedes made to last? Well, on average, your Mercedes should last you 200,000 miles to 250,000 miles. At this point, your Mercedes may have reached a repair that would cost more than the car’s actual value.

Each Mercedes last you about 15 to 17 years. But, this will only happen if the proper maintenance is taking place. This means, oil changes every 5k to 7k miles, keeping up on your A and B services. All of these are ways to keep your Mercedes lasting longer.

The Mercedes with the most miles on it is the 1976 Mercedes-Benz 240D. It got 1.8 million miles on it. This Mercedes is an award-winning car!

What are typical repairs on a Mercedes?

Due to the fact that Mercedes is one of the most reliable vehicles on the market over the last 30 years, I would say preventative maintenance is the main Mercedes repair you will need. This includes:

Oil changes — Oil changes need to take place every 5,000 miles to 7,500 miles. There are 4 different types of oil changes that you can get. One is a full-synthetic oil change. These are the more high-end oil change options. Then there synthetic blend oil changes. Then, High mileage oil and then conventual motor oil

Alignment — Mercedes repair includes having their alignment to be done every two to three years. Alignment makes your car’s tires aligned properly so that they hit the road at the correct angle. This makes you different straight and safe.

Transmission service — You need transmission service every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. A transmission service is basically a transmission fluid exchange. We first, drain your old transmission fluid, then we fill your car back up with new, clean transmission fluid.

Timing chain — Your Mercedes needs a new timing chain every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Your timing chain controls parts of your engine. Your engine is key in your car operation. So, it is really important to have our timing chain changed when it is supposed to be.

Engine light — When your check engine light comes on, you must have it diagnosed as soon as possible. Your engine is key to your car’s operation.

Tune-up — Tune-up is a replacement of wire, plugs, and any other thing that makes up your Mercedes ‘s ignition system.
