What is a Chevy?

Chevrolet repair in your future? Chevy is an American automotive manufacturing company. Chevy was founded in 1911. Chevrolet originally made cars in Flint, Michigan. Today, Chevys are still made in Michigan, but they have more locations. Chevys are one of the most popular cars in America.

Did you know, that in 2021, Chevy sold 121,100 cars? The most popular Chevy sold is the Chevy Impala. In 1965 Chevy sold 1,046,514 Impalas!

Chevy was incorporated on November 3, 1911. Its founders are Louis Chevrolet, William C. Durant, Arthur Chevrolet, Samuel McLaughlin, Edwin R. Campbell, and William Little. Chevy owns Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC.

Chevy is known for their “beefy trucks”. But they make much more than that. They make cars, trucks,  SUVs, vans, and corvettes.

One cool fact about Chevy is that the first-ever SUVs were manufactured by Chevy! It was called the Chevy Suburban.

Chevrolet history

Chevy was made on November 3, 1911, in Detroit Michigan. Their first car released was the series C classic six. It had a 6-cylinder engine and produced 40 horsepower. Its top speed was 65 miles per hour.

Did you know, Chevy makes motorized tricycles? They made their first one in 1899. It was called a Knight. Today, Chevy still produces motorized tricycles.

Chevy made their first Hybrid vehicle in 2004. It was called a Chevy Bolt and it was a concept car. The Chevy Volt debuted on January 7, 2007. It was the ever plug-in-hybrid.
Chevy later released an all-electric car in 2022. It is called the Bolt EV. On a single charge, the Bolt will get 250 miles before it needs a new charge. It takes the bolt 9.5 hours to reach a charge of 100%.

WHAT IS a TYPICAL Chevrolet repair?

Due to the fact that Chevy is one of the most reliable vehicles on the market over the last 30 years, I would say preventative maintenance is the main Chevrolet repair will need. This includes:

Oil changes — Oil changes need to take place every 5,000 miles to 7,500 miles. There are 4 different types of oil changes that you can get. One is a full-synthetic oil change. These are the more high-end oil change options. Then there synthetic blend oil changes. Then, High mileage oil and then conventual motor oil

Transmission service — You need transmission service every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. A transmission service is basically a transmission fluid exchange. We first, drain your old transmission fluid, then we fill your car back up with new, clean transmission fluid.

Timing Belt — Your Chevy needs a new timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Your timing belt controls parts of your engine. Your engine is key in your car operation. So, it is really important to have our timing belt changed when it is supposed to be.

Engine light — When your check engine light comes on, you must have it diagnosed as soon as possible. Your engine is key to your car’s operation.

Alignment — Chevys need their alignment to be done every two to three years. Alignment makes your car’s tires aligned properly so that they hit the road at the correct angle. This makes you different straight and safe.

Tune up — Tune-up is a replacement of wire, plugs, and any other thing that makes up your Chevy‘s ignition system.

With the proper care and regular maintenance, your Chevy will last 13-20 years before it needs to be retired. Sometimes, your Chevy will die of old age. Other times it will because it requires unrepairable Chevrolet repair. Whatever it may be, we at Tedious Repairs are here to help.

After 200,000 miles you can expect your Chevy to start to fall apart. Most Chevys last you about 200k miles or 13 years. It’s important to keep up on your maintenance to have your car last this long.

“I’ve been in Chevy tow trucks and work trucks with well over 1/2 million miles, and I’m sure Chevy trucks used in police duty are also fairing well with the beating they endure, so the bottom line is, they last as long as the quality of the maintenance given to them.”
